Sexual Violence During Times of War: Crime Against Humanity or War Crime?
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page discussion of the nature of acts of sexual violence committed during times of war. Uses the examples recently unfolding in the Yugoslav region. Notes that the 2001 convictions of three Bosnian Serbs for their repeated rape and mistreatment of numerous civilian Muslim women they held captive is precedential in nature. It is the first incidence of an international court of justice addressing a crime of sexual violence as a crime against humanity. that in reality these crimes justify an even more rigid judicial process and retribution. It can be contended in fact, given the structural, cultural, and institutional mechanisms which have resulted in these crimes, that these crimes of sexual violence should be prosecuted under the title of war crimes. Sociology and the Gendered Society
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages. Perhaps the most important reason that we study gender in sociology and why feminists are wont to work towards change in the gendered order of society is because genders tend to become stratified. This means that not only are men and women viewed as being different, they are also viewed as not being equal. There is today a power differential between women and men in our society. This paper explains how this inequality manifests itself in our society today as well as how genders intersect with other forms of stratification such as race, class, and sexual orientation. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Some Legal Problems Regarding Family as a Public or a Private Matter
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper discussing some problems in regards to family as public or private matters. In the Australian social and legal system, several aspects of private family relationships are considered public concerns. While public concern for spousal abuse may be considered as beneficial to women who are abused, there are still many factors within the institution of marriage which are not considered equal. If true equality were to exist in the legal marital contract and be reflected in the courts and the eyes of society, more family matters could still remain private for both partners who would feel they had equal representation. As the system stands now however, it is generally felt that women, in order to get equal rights, benefits and legal justice, have to divulge more private family matters to the public and try and battle against the general acceptance that the man in the family provides financial support and is responsible for family discipline and should not be provoked into abusive situations while the woman within a private marital relationship should respect and accommodate those assumptions.

Stalking
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Not unlike a wild animal who pursues his prey, human stalking elicits the same sense of terror and doom from its unwitting victim. The very nature of stalking is often meant as a gesture of adoration in the mind of a psychologically unbalanced individual, as in the case of celebrity stalking; however, more times than not, it is an angry and unthinking response to emotional turmoil from such circumstances as a romantic breakup or unrequited love. serves as just one of the ironies of the play as the neighbors of
a woman who is accused of killing her husband attempt to find out
what truly happened. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
