B.F. Skinner and George Edward Moore Regarding the Determination
of Human Actions
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses how B.F. Skinner
brought into question the motivations that lead people to modify
their actions, as well as the ways in which determinism is
responsible for human thought and action. In comparison, the
lesser-known George Edward Moore directed his area of research
toward the free will of human beings and the idea that
individuals have free will only if we sometimes could have done
what we did not do, and if everything is caused, then we never
could have done what we did not do. Numerous critics have
claimed that the two are essentially saying the same thing. The
author of this report argues otherwise. Bibliography lists 2
sources.

Baudrillard's Theory of Hyper-Reality
[ send me this paper ]
11 pages. The premise of
this paper is to analytically assess the theory of Hean
Baudrillard's hyper-reality as related to the media's impact on
the social world. It is well-known that the media has a most
profound impact on our lives today, but how is that impact
connected in regards to hyper-reality? Obviously not everything
that gets reported is based on reality, and in light of that
fact, there is a deep connection to Baudrillard's theory.
Bibliography lists 14 sources.

[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Throughout most of the First Dialogue of Berkeley's "Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous," Hylas' position has two components: (R) For an ordinary physical object (such as a tree) to really exist is for it to exist external to, and independent of the mind; and (D) We immediately perceive ordinary physical objects.
Sometimes this position (R + D) is called Direct Realism, a position which Philonous openly argues against. No additional sources cited.
