Does Freedom of the Press Go Too Far?
[ send me this paper ]
This 4 page report
discusses the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and
questions whether or not the media has pushed too far in terms of
what is appropriate. The public response to what it has come to
see as irresponsible journalism and commentators who disseminate
hate, misinformation, and biased judgment, has been something of
a backlash against the First Amendments guarantee to the right
of free speech. And yet, there is also significant concern that
if a voice one disagrees with is silenced, there is no security
that an agreed-with voice will not also be silenced.
